SmilerShell 3.1 is a compact yet powerful Windows 3.1 control center that takes NO space on your desktop.  SmilerShell was one of four finalists for SIA's "Best Utility 1994" award, the "Oscar" of shareware.  The press has called it "top notch", "brilliant", and "must-have." (see below)

It features a tiny button that hops into the title bar of the active Windows application.  Left-click to reveal the ultimate Windows command line.  Or right-click to bring up an icon menu of SmilerShell tools, your list of "favorite applications," and all currently-running tasks. Until you click the titlebar button, SmilerShell takes up no space at all on the Windows desktop. Later it can be hidden again at will, again taking no space.  And even when visible, SmilerShell takes up very little screen space.

SmilerShell can search for files by name or contents, set a reminder alarm which displays a message when it goes off, and recognize all Windows-useful 4DOS/NDOS commands.  It includes a real-time system resources monitor, a handy date/time clock, and the ultimate Windows command line. You can even change its font and colors.

SmilerShell's Apps list shows SmilerShell utilities, your "favorite applications" list, and all currently-running tasks.  Click on a line to launch a new app, or switch to a currently-running task.

SmilerShell's command line is simple and intuitive: type a command and press Enter.  It runs Windows programs, DOS programs, or DOS internal commands.  Its Command Completion can search for matching partial commands, and it supports Drag & Drop, "file associations," pipes and redirection.  It runs multiple commands on one line, can change its PATH from within Windows, and is enhanced by handy built-in utilities.

These include a command line editor with history, search, and cut/paste; aliases; and fast directory-change, which lets you change drive and directory by typing a few letters of the endpoint directory's name, rather than its entire path.  SmilerShell can run DOS commands fullscreen or windowed, and ir lets you get rid of all "Finished" or "Inactive" windows with one SmilerShell command.

SmilerShell takes up only about 120K of disk space, and uses less than 100K of RAM and 1% of resources while running.  And it won't clutter up your computer by spreading bits of itself throughout your system.
